Introduced Species in Marine Waters, Part 2

Introduced species "arrive by way of ships' ballast water and hull fouling, by fisheries activites, and by other means. Hundreds of introductions have occurred and non-native species now inhabit many coastal marine communities from the Hawaiian Islands to New England." (Excerpt from "Introduced Species in U.S. Coastal Waters," prepared for the Pew Oceans Commission by James T. Carlton, 2001, pg. ii)
