Pacific Islanders Want USA to Ratify Kyoto Protocol

The Pacific island of Tuvalu is planning to evacuate all 11,000 inhabitants of their low-lying island because of global warming's disastrous effects on the island. Understandably, the people of Tuvalu are livid at the USA's refusal to ratify the Kyoto Protocol to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. A high ranking Tuvaluan government official told the BBC, "By refusing to ratify the [Kyoto] protocol, the U.S. has effectively denied future generations of Tuvaluans their fundamental freedom to live where our ancestors have lived for thousands of years."
