About Half of All Lakes and Estuaries Too Polluted for Swimming or Fishing
- According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), 39% of surveyed rivers (a 4% increase in 2 years), 51% of estuaries (a 7% increase in 2 years), and 45% of lakes (same level) are too polluted for swimming or fishing.
