Surfrider's 2006 State of the Beach Report's Featured Indicator: Shoreline Structures

"Each year our [State of the Beach] report focuses on a particular beach-health indicator. This year its shoreline structures -- those ugly seawalls, revetments and other structures designed to protect buildings, roads and other infrastructure that weve built too close to eroding coasts. Although it would be hard to find anyone whose vision of the beach includes a seawall or rock revetment, the sad reality is that an increasing percentage of our coastline around the country is being armored. The ultimate, inevitable end result? -- no beaches." - excerpt from Surfrider's Making Waves article about the 2006 State of the Beach report.
