Tsunami's Speed

"A tsunami's forward speed is directly proportional to the varying depth of water through which it passes -- the deeper the water, the greater the speed... A tsunami passing through water 20,000 feet deep will race along at about 545 m.p.h." - excerpt from the book the Ocean Almanac, by Robert Hendrickson, Doubleday Books, 1984, pg. 300.
