Beach Ecology is Important!

"The beach is an ecosystem with a tremendous amount of coastal marine life. The permanent and transient animals and plants that use our beach as a habitat have both an intrinsic value and an important role in the processes that define the beach physically. [...] Research suggests that leaving the kelp wrack helps maintain foraging opportunities for shorebirds and benefits native coastal plants that trap sand and create dunes." - excerpts from San Clemente's Beach Ecology and Maintenance Policy.
