Many States Depend on Federal Funds for Beach Monitoring

"Since 2011, Florida has relied exclusively on EPA grant funds through the BEACH Act to fund the Florida Healthy Beaches Program. The program monitors recreational beaches for fecal pollution and notifies the public when high bacteria levels indicate a health risk of developing gastro-intestinal illness, eye, ear and nose infections, skin rashes and infections, and worse." - excerpt from article in Tallahassee Democrat by Holly Paker. Help provide state funding in Florida. Help save the national BEACH Act program.
