The Maine Chapter (Formerly known as the Northern New England Chapter) covers the coastline of Maine. Since organizing the chapter, they have formed partnerships with the State of Maine, several coastal towns and municipalities, and the Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve to expand their volunteer and environmental programs.

Surfrider Maine Chapter members are passionate about the health and sustainability of Maine's precious coastline and the waves that fall upon it. They believe protecting it is their duty, their commitment as a group, one that they take very seriously.

They'll continue to build on the community that exists within Surfrider NNE because it's special....it's Maine, it's surfing, fishing, kayaking and just plain having fun at the beach. It's also fundraising, it's planning events, taking on causes, providing leadership, communicating and being active locally.

One of the chapter's goals is to help modify beach access laws in Maine. The chapter is currently involved in litigation over public access to beaches in Kennebunkport, Eastport and Cape Elizabeth.
